Johnathan McFarlane - Director
Johnathan was born in Winnipeg, Canada, in 1981. After a few long hops across several continents, he ended up in Denver in 1990. Graduating high school in 1999, Johnathan then attended the University of Colorado in Boulder and received his bachelor degree in Broadcast Production Management, (Broadcast Journalism). After a brief stint with the Specials department of High Noon Productions, Johnathan began work as an Editor with KDVR - Fox 31 News in Denver. After 3 years with Fox he ditched the news gig to work on Project Canada. Aside from spreading awesome Canadian vibes everywhere, Johnathan continues to edit and produce film and television content on a freelance basis for a variety of clients in the Denver area. In 2008 Johnathan (along with Tim) founded the Festivus Film Festival in Denver. It has since become the largest indie film fest in Denver, and was recently named one of the Top 25 Coolest Fests by Moviemaker Magazine.
Tim Demasters – Associate Producer
Tim graduated from Trinity Western University in Langley, British Columbia in 2004 with a degree in Environmental Sciences. He's worked for several environmental firms, as well as becoming an accomplished still photographer. His biology and wildlife photos have been featured in numerous shows around the metro Denver area. Tim also owns and operates a printing and apparel business. When he's not working he's climbing, skateboarding, snowboarding, scuba diving, mountain biking, hiking, or stamp collecting. Tim has done a lot of globetrotting since shooting Project Canada, including several summers in Alaska, many surf trips to El Salvador, and numerous trips to Mexico as well. Co-Founder of the Festivus FF with Johnathan, he continues to be a powerful force in the Denver indie film scene. Recently Tim has been working as a GIS (Geographic Information Systems) specialist on a variety of projects nationwide.
Daniel Ito – Production Assistant / Road Crew
Dan was born and raised right here in Denver Colorado, and his lived in Aurora, Littleton, and Centennial. He attended Denver Christian and Eaglecrest High School. During his high school years Dan developed his still-photography skills, specializing in black and white photography. Over the past few years Dan has worked in the music industry, with both Denver Print and Swag Productions. He's interviewed notables such as Pharcyde and Afu Ra. Recently (May 2011) Dan graduated with a film degree from the Colorado Film School. He's been working a few different projects since then, including the experimental-doc-short "7 Days in Chihuahua" that Tim directed. Dan also works with Tim and Johnathan for Festivus Film Fest as a venue manager and screener.
Jake Norton – Production Assistant / Road Crew
Jake was born in San Bernardino, California, but was raised in Aurora, Colorado. He graduated from Eaglecrest High School in 2000. In 2005 Jake graduated from Colorado State University with a double major in Business Marketing and Technical Journalism with a Video Communication concentration. While living in Fort Collins he worked for CSU Campus Television on a news/entertainment show called Full Tilt as a co-writer, producer and editor. Jake is currently wearing a suit on a day to day basis. We don't exactly know what his job is, but we do know that he makes all sorts of shady financial deals involving the stock market.
